Annoyance at 7-Degrees
Sunday, I attended a friend’s wedding at a beautiful venue called Seven-Degrees. All the invited guests were adults from the age 24+(all except 2 very tiny children as the flower girl and ring bearer), so we had champagne and an open bar. I walked into the lobby and greeted some familiar faces and strolled over to the table serving champagne. As soon as I picked one up, the server said in a rude tone, “I’m gonna need to see your ID”
First of all, who the hell cards at a wedding?! As I mentioned before, all the invited guests were well over the legal drinking age, that includes me. Now, I’m used to being carded because I look rather young for my age, but while hanging around the serving table I have not heard her card one other person. There were plenty of other guests who also looked younger than the age of 35(the rule is that if you look under that age, you’re supposed to get carded). Being at a wedding, I decided to be a good guest and not hassle with her so I just told her that I left my ID in the car but it’s ok and set the glass back down while turning to pour some water for myself.
Then she couldn’t just shut her big mouth and continued yapping, “you might as well go get it ‘cause we have open bar all night.” She said this with a seriously rude tone. Had she asked for my ID politely and informed me about the open bar later in a professional manner, I wouldn’t be complaining about her via the internet. Anyways, I didn’t want to cause a scene at a beautiful wedding so I decided to just try to ignore her comment and walked away.
A few moments later I heard her chatting with one of her co-workers about me. You would think she would at least have the decency to wait until we had all gone to the other room to gossip about the guest. The horrible bartender left a horrible first impression of the service in this wedding venue, but it does not end here.
Sometime after dinner, a girl holding a glass of cocktail was walking to another table. One of the waiters walked by and ran into her arm from behind causing her to spill the drink all over herself and the ground. The waiter simple looked back at her and said “oh” and walked on. She was left to clean herself up along with the help of her friends near by. Among these were other small things about the unprofessional way they served the guests, but I think I’ve proved my point telling these two stories. The Seven-Degrees wedding site decoration was rather pleasant but the service was horrible.
Word of advice, if you can’t be professional and pleasant to people then don’t work in the service industry. Especially not at a wedding venue.
